The operation aims at the upgrading of the densely built-up centre of Ilion, where there is a lack of high-quality public spaces. It creates a unified network of modern, green, and accessible outdoor spaces that enhance social and commercial life. It improves the microclimate with new planting and cool materials, restricts chaotic parking, and promotes sustainable mobility. It reverses environmental degradation, enhances the functionality of the commercial centre, and highlights Agamemnonos and Gennimata squares as attractive leisure spaces for residents and visitors.

The operation concerns the redevelopment of the commercial centre of Ilion and Agamemnonos and Gennimata squares, covering a total area of 22,850 sq.m. of outdoor public spaces. It provides for new paving, pedestrian street upgrades, tree planting, modern urban equipment, lighting, and the construction of a dry-deck fountain at Gennimata Square (“The water feature will consist of 11 water jets”). The objective is the creation of a unified, green, and accessible network of public spaces that enhances commercial and social life, improves the microclimate, and upgrades the image of the city centre.
